Dimplex is part of Glen Dimplex, the Irish-founded group that is a world leader in electric heating. For more than half a century it has led electric fireplace design, from the original Optiflame effect in 1988 to Optimyst water-mist flames and the HD Opti-V screen.

Because a Dimplex fire needs no chimney, flue or ventilation, it can go almost anywhere: a media wall, an existing fireplace, a bedroom or an apartment. Most models add an optional heater of up to 2 kW, and the flame runs on its own for pure ambience.

What is the difference between Optimyst, Opti-V and Optiflame?

Optimyst uses water mist lit by LEDs to create a 3D flame and smoke you can view from any angle. Opti-V uses an HD screen for photorealistic flames with an optional crackling sound. Optiflame, introduced in 1988, uses a moving mirror to create a flickering flame.

No. Dimplex electric fires need no chimney, flue or ventilation, so they can go almost anywhere: a media wall, a hang-on-the-wall install, an existing fireplace opening or a freestanding stove position.
