Outdoor Fireplaces & Wood Storage from the Netherlands

Wood-Burning Outdoor Fires, Handmade in Holland

Discover RB73 at Flamestyle

RB73 is a Dutch brand with a genuine passion for outdoor fire, designing and handcrafting a range of outdoor fireplaces and wood storage solutions. Every RB73 fireplace is made by hand in the Netherlands from high-quality materials, with a level of finish and attention to detail that mass-produced outdoor fires simply cannot match. The range covers everything from compact terrace fireplaces to large statement pieces, all engineered to be weather resistant and built to last through years of outdoor use.

CorTen Steel Construction

The majority of RB73’s outdoor fireplaces are made from CorTen steel, a material specifically chosen for its exceptional weather resistance and its distinctive natural ageing process. Over time, CorTen steel develops a rich, layered rust patina on its surface that actually protects the steel beneath, meaning no painting, no coating and no ongoing maintenance is required. Because the patina develops organically in response to the local environment and climate, every RB73 fireplace gradually becomes completely unique to the garden it lives in. The fireplaces are also designed as closed units, which means no smoke, no flying ash and no stray sparks on your terrace during use.

The Quaruba & Piquia Range

The core of the RB73 outdoor fireplace collection is built around the Quaruba and Piquia models. The Quaruba is available in three sizes, the L, XL and XXL, and can be specified in CorTen steel, stainless steel with a matt finish, or stainless steel with a heat-resistant black spray finish for a cleaner, more contemporary look. The Piquia is a more compact option, available on a four-legged base and well suited to smaller terraces or balconies. Both ranges are designed to be movable and adaptable, so you can position them wherever they work best in your outdoor space.

Beyond the Fire

RB73’s range extends well beyond fireplaces. The Fennek 50 and Fennek 80 were designed in collaboration with renowned Dutch designer Roderick Vos and bring a more sculptural, design-led approach to outdoor fire. The Quercus is a multifunctional outdoor fireplace that incorporates a pizza oven, making it a genuinely useful cooking and entertaining centrepiece for the garden. The brand also produces a thoughtfully designed range of wood storage solutions including the BloX, BloXX, Quarubox, Ker, Bruges and Sheddak, all designed to keep logs dry, accessible and neatly organised alongside your fireplace.

Frequently Asked Questions About RB73 Outdoor Fireplaces

What is CorTen steel and does it require maintenance?

CorTen steel is a weather-resistant steel alloy that develops a natural rust patina on its outer surface when exposed to the elements. This patina acts as a protective barrier for the steel beneath, which means the material actually becomes more durable over time rather than deteriorating. It requires no painting, no sealing and no ongoing maintenance, making it an ideal material for a permanent outdoor fireplace installation.

Are RB73 fireplaces suitable for use on a covered terrace or pergola?

RB73 fireplaces are designed as closed units with a flue pipe, which means smoke is directed upwards and away from the surrounding area rather than dispersing across the terrace. This makes them well suited to use under a covered terrace or pergola, provided there is adequate clearance above the flue outlet. Our team can advise on the specific clearance requirements for the model you are considering.

Can I cook on an RB73 fireplace?

Most RB73 outdoor fireplaces are designed purely for warmth and ambiance rather than cooking, but the Quercus model is specifically built as a combined outdoor fireplace and pizza oven, making it an excellent choice if cooking capability is important to you. It is one of the most popular models in the range for exactly that reason.

What is the difference between the Quaruba L, XL and XXL?

The three Quaruba models are identical in design but differ in size, allowing you to choose the scale that best suits your terrace and your preference for flame size and heat output. The L is the most compact of the three, the XL sits in the middle, and the XXL is the largest model in the range and makes the strongest visual statement on a bigger terrace or in a garden setting.

Are RB73 fireplaces available in finishes other than the natural CorTen rust?

Yes. The Quaruba L, XL and XXL are also available in two stainless steel finishes: a pearl-blasted matt stainless that develops a subtle heat discolouration around the flue and door over time, and a heat-resistant black spray finish that gives the fireplace a cleaner, more contemporary appearance. The choice of finish comes down to the aesthetic you are looking for and how the fireplace will sit within your overall outdoor scheme.
